Can Factbound tell me what to file next? No. Factbound can help you find the court's own published instructions and forms for common procedures in your jurisdiction, but the decision about what to file — and whether to file — is yours.

Is Factbound a law firm? Are you lawyers? No. Factbound is a software company. Using Factbound does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Can I use Factbound if I have a lawyer? Yes. Many people with limited-scope or budget- constrained representation use Factbound to stay organized and informed between conversations with their attorney.

Can I use Factbound for a criminal case? Yes. You can research the statutes and court rules involved in your case and organize your documents just as you would in a civil matter. If you're facing criminal charges, we strongly encourage you to work with an attorney — you have a constitutional right to one, including appointed counsel if you can't afford one. Factbound is a research and organization tool, not a defense.

Is my information private? Yes. Your uploaded documents and research activity are encrypted, visible only to you, and never sold or shared. 

What sources does Factbound use? Government-published sources only: state statutes, regulations, case law, court rules, and self-help materials published by the courts. Every result links to the official source.

Does Factbound use AI? How do I know it's accurate? Yes — AI powers Factbound's plain- English search and helps organize your documents. But unlike general chatbots, Factbound's AI doesn't generate answers from memory. It retrieves information from our curated library of official government sources and from your own uploaded documents, and every result links to its source so you can verify it yourself. Where AI generates a plain-language preview (for court self-help materials), it's clearly labeled as AI-generated and linked to the original. As with any research tool, always check the underlying source before relying on it.

Does Factbound's AI read my documents? Is that private? AI processes your uploaded documents only to organize them for you — identifying document types, dates, and case details so you can search them and see your timeline. Your documents stay in your private, encrypted workspace, are visible only to you, and are never shared, sold, or used for any other purpose.
